January - December

The new Gorilla night house is almost completed. During the past few month the walls made out of mesh panel modules have been erected and welded together, 9 sliding doors have been constructed and. Now the details like flooring and the door shutters are completed and implemented. In order to separate the gorillas from the adult chimps a wall is being erected between the two enclosures. Massive rain falls in March and the constant power cuts slowed the construction work down. However, though we still plan to move the Gorillas beginning of May in the new house with a temporary outdoor yard.

Mangabey Enclosure

A part from the Gorilla night house a new mangabey enclosure is presently in construction. Since the mangabey's old home is located in side the new gorilla outdoor yard, they will find a new home on the island across the Limbe River.

New KitchenFood Room

The construction team has finished the new food preparation building that includes the banana storage room and new staff changing quarters. All the staff, especially our food prep personnel, are thrilled about the new kitchen facilities. The new area is bigger, brighter, and constructed so that food preparation and general hygiene will be easily carried out.

Education Centre Building

Tree Outside Education Centre

The new education centre building continues to be used by school and local youthgroups as well as for presentations and and training workshops. All the doors are now installed and functional. But work still needs to be done to complete the building and we are currently looking for donations in kind to equip the facility and finish the building.
