A distintive feature of the Tantulus monkey is the blue abdomen in both males and females. Males also have a blue scrotal area and a bright red penis. Both sexes have long, sharp canines.


Tantulus monkeys are omnivorous, but tend to prefer grasses, fruits and seeds. Some eat cartain parts of the acacia tree. they also eat small vertibrates such as fledgling birds and small lizards, as a source of protein.
